Trim Maintenence Clinics
Trim Maintenance Training Clinic Specifics

These clinics consist of 3 days of 8 to 10 hours (or more) of trimming demonstration and discussion using client horses, including coached maintenance trimming by owners on their own horses. Owners need to acquire their own tools. Content will be dictated by the horse/owner needs and audience questions. Clinic size is 3 to 5 owners, and each owner may bring up to 3 horses.

Topics include:

  • Differences between popular barefoot trimming techniques
  • Barefoot Trim Basics
  • Successful transitions - shod horses to barefoot
  • The impact of Diet, Environment and Exercise on transitions
  • Common trimming problems and how to avoid them
  • Understanding hoof balance and distortion
  • Assessing movement and soundness
  • Hoof boot selection, modification and use
  • Tool selection
  • Tool use

Rehabilitation of chronic conditions and diseases like long toe, under-run heels, club feet, flat feet, laminitis, and navicular will be discussed as time allows.

Objective: Become familiar with the principles and application of Natural Hoof Care as a variety of horses are assessed and trimmed. Content is customized to suit the audience and horses at the clinic. The focus is on assessing hoof balance and health, recognizing unsoundness and tenderness and transitioning from shod or pasture trimmed horses to sound barefoot horses.

This is not a comprehensive barefoot trim training clinic! This clinic will help you assess your horses feet, movement and soundness, share tool use and trimming principles as well as helping you evaluate other trimmers work, and what you get out of it is partially dependent on your background, hoof care knowledge and experience. This clinic will provide you with enough experience to perform a maintenance trim on your own horses with regular guidance from a professional trimmer.

Scheduling Requirements: Clinic size is 3 to 5 attendees bringing up to 3 horses each. No auditing!

Clinic Fees:$900 per attendee

Easy Care Boots, Rasps, Easy Care Comfort Pads, Comfort Straps, Up Buckles and Boot Snug Packs are available for purchase.

Host a HealthyHoof.com Clinic!

HealthyHoof.com clinics are dependent on Clinic Hosts to manage clinics locally. Clinic Host gets free clinic attendance, and a free trim for each 10 horses enrolled for trimming.

Hosts reserve a suitable clinic location, publicize the clinic locally, and manage attendee enrollment. We particularly need hosts for Los Angeles and San Diego clinics; there is a strong demand for clinics in those areas! If you're interested, please contact me at HealthyHooof@comcast.net!
